Abstract
Oral cancer represents a significant public health issue with a substantial impact on patients’ quality of life, where early detection is crucial for treatment success. The Early Intervention Program for Oral Cancer in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (PIPCO-RAM) relies on the timely referral of high-risk users, coordination among healthcare professionals, and structured tracking of each case’s clinical path.
This project describes the development of a web application to support the digital management of the clinical and administrative workflows of PIPCO-RAM, developed in collaboration with the Institute of Health Administration (IASAÚDE). The system was designed to support the program’s various stakeholders: General and Family Medicine doctors, participating dentists, the reference laboratory, the Otolaryngology Service of SESARAM, and IASAÚDE administrators, providing each profile with features tailored to their specific scope of action. Built using modern web technologies including Node.js, Express, MySQL, and Sequelize, the platform provides a professional, secure, and complete solution ready for real-world deployment to improve public health management in Madeira.
